Merkava is a Israeli tank, designed in 1974 by MANTAK. Merkava is
produced from 1978 to present day. Merkava have almost 2000 copies. Tank have
65 tons weight, 9 metres length, 4 metres width, 2,5 metres height, and have 4
persons crew. After removing half of ammo tank can take 6 persons more. Merkava
is regarded as most secure tank for crew. Tank have classified composite/sloped
armour with modular construction. Merkava is equip in 120 mm MG253 cannon,
LAHAT system, ATGM system, 12.7mm machine gun, two 7.62 mm machine guns,
60mm internal mortar and 12 smoke granades. Maximum speed of this tank is
64km/h. Operational range is 500 km. Merkava is powered by 1500 horsepower turbocharged
diesel engine. Israel use Merkava in 4 variants in Gaza War, 2006 Lebanon War, 1982
Lebanon War, First Intifada, Second Intifada, South Lebanon Conflict, 2014
Israel–Gaza conflict and in Operation Protective Edge.
