In my the last one blog I am writing about
the best in my opinion tank ever built – Leopard2
Leopard 2 is the German tank, the first
tank in third generation. Was designed in 1970s by Krauss‐Maffei Wegmann, and
produced in 3,480 copies in 11 versions until today. Leopard 2 have 62 tons
weight, 10 metres length, 4 metres width and 3 metres height. Tank have 4
persons crew. Leopard 2 is armoured in 3rd generation composite; including
high-hardness steel, tungsten and plastic filler with ceramic component Armor.
Vehicle is equip in 120 mm Rheinmetall L55 smoothbore gun and in two 7.62
mm MG3A1 machine guns. Leopard 2 is powered by MTU MB 873 Ka-501 liquid-cooled
V-12 Twin-turbo diesel engine with 1479 horsepower. Tank have 550 km
operational range with 72km/h speed. Unit cost is 6 millions US Dollars.
Leopard was used in War in Afghanistan. Today, Leopard is used by 18 countries.
