It got its name from Generał Zaruski the Originator of built fleet of 10 ships for Polish Scouting and Guiding Association. It was built in Sweden in 1939, as first of those ten ships but WWII cut off that plan. So we have only one sailing ship of that type. It went to Poland after the War and it got the name Generał Zaruski. That ship changed name 3 times -other names were: Młoda Gwardia (Young Guards) and Mariusz Zaruski. In 1977 Generał Zaruski walked into shoal near Copenhagen and needed repair, which was in years 1978 - 1982. In 2003 it lost PRS class, what means it can't be used. In 2008 Generał Zaruski was out of commission and municipality Danzig (Gdańsk) intrested ship. The people back the idea of buying it and Generał Zaruski became Danzig representative sailing ship. Now it sails with groups youths on Baltic Sea.
